Theme: Sources of Financing for Africa’s Development


The Tenth Annual Conference on Regional Integration in Africa (ACRIA 10) has been held in Bamako, Mali, 1-3 July 2019.  It was jointly organized by:

  • The African Political Economy Association (APEA), Global 
  • The Center for Research on Political Economy (CREPOL), Dakar
  • The West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), Lagos
  • The West African Monetary Agency (WAMA), Freetown
  • The West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), Accra.
The theme of the three-day conference has been “Sources of Financing for Africa’s Development”.  The goal of the conference was to organize a forum for presentation of scientific papers and discussion on the policy implications of their findings in support of the regional integration agenda.    Approximately 20 papers were selected by a Selection Panel in an open competition and compiled into a published monograph at the end of the Conference. Sub-themes included Financing of Infrastructure, of Agriculture, of ICT; Role of Banks, of Financial Markets, of External Debt and of Aid; Contribution of Private Sector, of Government and of Gender Policies.

The Conference have facilitated a direct debate between researchers from Africa and the Diaspora, and senior national and regional policymakers.
