Theme: Money in Africa 


The Eighth Annual Conference on Regional Integration in Africa (ACRIA 8) will be held in Lomé, Togo, 3-5 July 2017.  It will be jointly organized by: 


  • The Center for Research on Political Economy (CREPOL), Dakar 

  • The West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), Lagos 

  • The West African Monetary Agency (WAMA), Freetown 

  • The West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), Accra. 


The theme of the three-day conference will be Money in Africa.  The goal of the conference will be to organize a forum for presentation of scientific papers and discussion on the policy implications of their findings in support of the regional integration agenda.    Approximately 20 papers will be selected by a Selection Panel in an open competition and compiled into a published monograph at the end of the Conference. Sub-themes will include, banking, monetary policy, money demand, international and domestic credit markets, microcredit and social lending, etc. 


The Conference will facilitate a direct debate between researchers from Africa and the Diaspora, and senior national and regional policymakers.  


Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts or full papers no later than March 31, 2017 to:

The timetable for the Conference is as follows: 


  • January 15, 2017: Call for Papers  

  • March 31, 2017:  Deadline for submission of abstracts 

  • April 20, 2017Selection of papers  

  • June 1, 2017: Complete papers submitted and circulated.    


Some financial support (the level will be determined later) will be provided to authors whose papers are selected and completed by June 1, 2017.
